Helping Maintain a Safe, Attractive, and Vibrant Fairport Harbor 

The Village of Fairport Harbor is committed to protecting the health, safety, and economic vitality of our neighborhoods. To support this goal, we have implemented a Vacant Property Registration Program to identify and monitor vacant buildings throughout the Village and ensure they are properly maintained. 

Who Must Register?

Property owners are required to register any residential, commercial, or industrial building that is vacant for 90 consecutive days or more. This applies whether the vacancy is due to sale, foreclosure, or abandonment.


How to Register

  1. Complete the Vacant Property Registration Form (downloadable below or available at Village Hall)
  2. Submit the form with applicable fee to the Village Administrator’s Office
  3. Renew registration annually if the property remains vacant

Registration Fees

  • Non-Residential (commercial, industrial, and residential with 3 or more units): $500.00
  • Residential (2 units or less): $250.00

Failure to Register

Failure to register a vacant property is an unclassified civil misdemeanor and is punishable by a civil fine:
  1. First offense: $250
  2. Second offense: $500
  3. Third offense: $750
  4. Fourth and subsequent offenses: $1,000
Each day of non-compliance may be considered a separate offense. The Village is committed to fair enforcement and encourages voluntary compliance.
